Your Sufficiency Is Of God - Part 9

"Give, and it shall be given to you, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over, they shall give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured to you again."

Luk.6:38 MKJV

This week we will continue our meditation on the above subject - "Your Sufficiency Is Of God." For the last four weeks, we have been looking at how we could step into realm of "Season to Season Overflowing Abundance" that God has promised us, even though God is our sufficiency. As discussed last week, one of the steps into it is obeying the principle of "Giving and Receiving." Under this contemplation, we have learnt that our Lord Jesus Christ also taught on this principle.

We were taught that we must make giving and receiving part of our daily duty in life; and especially to men of God that have laboured over us, and also to those in need, who would not have the means to pay us back. The Lord mentions that when we give, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over shall be given back to us. In other words, we shall have overflowing abundance.

How should we give? If we look at the last statement of Jesus Christ from our scriptural text, we would see that the Lord wants us to give in measure - "For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured to you again."   Now, what is measure in the context of this subject? According to the English dictionary, it means to evaluate or estimate the nature, quality, ability, extent, or significance of something or somebody. Now, let us look at the Greek word from which the word "Measure" is translated. It was the word "Metron"; and it has other meanings such as portion, degree, determined extent, limit etc. If we consider these meanings to make a statement, we would see that, we can actually determine what we will receive in return by the measure, degree, limit, of what we give. If we give without measure or limit, we would receive without measure and limit.

Apart from giving in measure, another way we can give to receive is by not limiting ourselves to one beneficiary - "Cast your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days. Give a share to seven, and also to eight; for you know not what evil shall be on the earth."   Eccl.11:1-2   MKJV. The reason for this is because we do not know which of our seeds (gifts) will bring our desired harvests - In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know what shall be blessed, either this or that, or whether they both shall be fruitful in the same way. Eccl.11:6 MKJV. Therefore, giving and receiving must be a continuous thing we must do for us to step into overflowing abundance. In fact, it must be a way of life.

What other way should we give? It must be done according to what we have - "For if the eagerness is present, it is acceptable according to what one has, and not according to what one does not have."   2Cor.8:12   MKJV.

And finally, we must let the Holy Spirit help us - "Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought..."   Rom.8:26. For the fact that we are Christians does not mean that we are immune from human weaknesses on earth; but thank God, Holy Spirit is there as our Helper in our infirmities. When we are not sure of what and how to give, let us ask Him. As He leads us in our giving, we will never miss our harvest - "Overflowing Abundance."

Please let us pray:

Dear Glorious Father, I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to know how and what to give at every point in time in Jesus' Name. Amen.
